New Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers knows that only five points separated his Swansea City club from the Anfield giants in the Premier League table this season. Five points, a measly two games, separated the legendary Reds and the Premier League first-time Swans.

To make matters worse, the Reds went on a massive spending spree, bringing in the likes of Luis Suarez, Andy Carroll, Jordan Henderson, Stewart Downing, Charlie Adam, Sebastian Coates, Jose Enrique and Craig Bellamy all in the previous three transfer windows.
Swansea City would've been lucky to have any of them playing at Liberty Stadium.

But now Rodgers is going to turn the tables and bring a few of his Swans to help push the Reds back to relevance.
According to Mirror Football, the 39-year-old Northern Irishman is considering a raid on his former club to bring as many as three players into Merseyside. The key player in the move would be Icelandic midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson, who is on the brink of completing a transfer to Swans. Mirror Football writes:
The new king of Anfield could hijack Gylfi Sigurdsson’s £6.8 million permanent move to the Liberty from Hoffenheim...Sigurdsson was prepared to make his loan move to Swansea permanent because of Rodgers, and would be tempted by the chance to be reunited with him on Merseyside.
Also in mind are centre-half Ashley Williams and winger Scott Sinclair.
Sinclair is a 23-year-old Englishman who has yet to earn a cap for the senior squad, but scored seven goals this past season and was once owned by Chelsea (although he was loaned out six different times during his time with the West London club).

Williams is a 27-year-old Welshman who has starred for his senior squad since 2008, the same year he joined Swansea City.

Sigurdsson is a 22-year-old attacking midfielder who scored seven goals in 18 appearances in the Premier League this season.

Liverpool's leading scorer this season was Suarez, and he scored only 11 goals in 31 league appearances.

Needless to say, a goal-scoring threat like Sigurdsson would be a huge boost for this club that has yet to find a way to make the most of the talented players in the squad.

The Reds ownership, John W. Henry and the Fenway Sports Group, need to let Rodgers do his thing if they hope to find success. Everything they've tried to this point hasn't worked, so if Rodgers wants to land three of his former players, by all means, let him do it.
